Lula Irene Conrad

SYLVIA – Lula Irene Conrad, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 14, 2011. She was born April 10, 1918, in rural Rice County, Kansas, the daughter of Charles E. and Minnie Whitson Fenwick.
She married Willis A. Jones in January of 1943. He died serving his country on April 4, 1945. She married Edwin A. Conrad in Hutchinson on January 6, 1947. Together they raised their family in the rural Gaylord area. She was a homemaker and farm wife. In 1988 they moved to Sylvia to be closer to their sons and their families.
Lula was a long time member of the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday School, served as Missionary President, served on the Church board and was issued the Nazarene Distinguished Service Award. She transferred her membership to Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene in Sylvia. She will be greatly missed by her Church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Edwin A Conrad; brothers Elmer, Raymond, Leroy, Everett, Charles E “Bud”; sister Annabelle Fenwick Renollet.
Survivors include a son E Eugene “Doc” Conrad and wife LuAnn; a son Carlyn G Conrad and wife Jaqui; step son Elwin E Conrad and wife Peggy; grandchildren Shelly Conrad Smoak, Drew Conrad and wife Lori, Jessica Conrad Mathes and husband Travis, Travis Conrad and wife Ai, Alicia Conrad and Chelsea Conrad Andrus. Great-grandchildren Logan and Olivia Smoak, Jaetyn Conrad, Taylor and Emma Mathes, and Rylee Andrus; brother Earl A Fenwick and wife Helen and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Church of the Nazarene in Sylvia with Pastor Roberto Ibarra presiding. Friends may call Friday 1-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday at Lawrence Creek Cemetery, Lawrence Township, Osborne County KS.
