Zola Farris Fischer

HUTCHINSON - Zola Farris Fischer, 88, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. Born November 17, 1922 in Rural Stafford County she was the daughter of Abraham and Kadisa Farris. She worked as a secretary at Hudson school, First National Bank of Hutchinson and Frontier Hybrids. She was a member of the Silver Leaf Eastern Star Lodge #464. On May 26, 1941 she married Sam Salem. She then married Merlin Fischer on June 10, 1967. She is survived by: husband Merlin of the home. Son: David Salem and his wife Renee of St. John. Grandson: Sam Salem of Stafford. Granddaughter: Jenna Salem of Hays. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Sam and Albert Farris. Five sisters, Dorothy, Ida, Opal, Emma and Mable. Niece, Dilly Bergen. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Wednesday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Sterling College in care of the chapel.
