STAFFORD - Walter "Darrel" Cooper, 78, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson. Born August 7, 1931 in Rural, Langdon he was the son of Walter C. and Alta Irene Darr Cooper. He was a school music teacher, principal and superintendent for schools in Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the N.E.A. He is survived by a daughter: Paula Stalcup and her husband Terry of Delta, CO. Son: Darrel L. Cooper and his wife Ruth of Albuquerque, N.M. Brother: Jack Cooper and his wife Barbara of Stafford. Sister: Karen Cooper of Carl Junction, MO. Three grandchildren: Matthew Stalcup and his wife Jennifer of Ft. Collins, CO. Sarah Stalcup and Lydia Stalcup of Delta, CO. Great-grandchildren: Matthew J. and Emily of Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew: William Glaze and Great-Nephew: Taylor Cooper.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2009 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford with Steve Gill presiding. Burial will be at the Peace Creek Cemetery, Rural Stafford. Memorials may be sent to the Hospice House of Reno County, in care of the chapel.
