STAFFORD - Twila “Joyce” Metz died April 21, 2010, at the Stafford County Hospital. She was born December 21, 1924, on a farm near Fellsburg, Ks, and was the daughter of Claude M. and Margaret (Clark) Asher. She lived near Trousdale until the age of 11, when she moved to a farm southwest of Stafford. She attended a country school at Taylorsville and graduated from Stafford High School in 1942.
In July of 1942, she married A.C. Bartlett who was killed in action in Germany in 1945. On May 8, 1947, she married J. H. (Buddy) Metz of Stafford.
Survivors include a daughter Linda Chance (spouse Ron) of Olathe, Ks., a son Barry Metz (spouse Pam), Wichita, Ks., five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son Steve Bartlett, two sisters Marietta Corbet and Fern Ellis as well as her brother, Karl Asher.
She was a member of the Stafford United Methodist Church, Martha Rebekah Lodge, St. John, Ks., and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Friends may sign the family book Friday 4-8 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Stafford County Hospital or the Stafford American Legion Auxiliary.
