Norma McMillan

Norma Louise Salmans McMillan, 73, died July 21, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on Jan 9, 1938, in Dodge City, the daughter of Ronald L. and Ella Mae Salmans. She graduated from Cimarron High School in 1957.
She met Marvin McMillan at Kansas State University and they married in Dodge City, KS on Apr 11, 1959. They moved to Littleton, Co, where they resided for 17 years. Then, returning to Stafford, she graduated from Sterling College with a degree in Education and later completed her Master’s degree in Adult Education from Kansas State University. She was employed by Hutchison Junior College for 17 years to teach adult education at KSIR. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year for a regional five-state area. Norma enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, playing Bridge and spending time with her family in Ft. Collins. She was a member of PEO and First Christian Church.
Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Marvin McMillan; son, Mark McMillan of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Shelly Turner and husband Tom of Ft. Collins, CO; six grandchildren Kelsee and Kapri McMillan, and Joel, Talon, Kylie, and Kenna Turner; sisters Dolores Collins, Nadine Lueker, and Carol Criss; and brother Ronald Salmans. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25 at the Stafford Cemetery with Rev. Paul Porter presiding. Friends may sign the family register Sunday 1-5 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Memorials may be made to Stafford County Hospital or First Christian Church of Stafford, in care of the chapel.
