STAFFORD - Martha Louise Street, 94, died August 17, 2009 at Leisure Homestead, Stafford. Born April 23, 1915 at Mount Washington, Mo. she was the daughter of Will Nesbitt and Berenese Lake Speed. A Stafford resident since 1957 moving from Yates Center she was a homemaker. She attended Kansas State University where she met Maurice Street. They were married at Parsons on October 25, 1937. She was an active member of the Stafford and Zenith United Presbyterian Churches, a fifty-year member of PEO Chapter BK, Stafford Culture Club, Stafford County Country Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. A gifted seamstress and quilter who made quilts for each of her children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren as long as she was able. Martha and Maurice loved the outdoors and spent many years golfing. She enjoyed her role of wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 4, 1991, her son- John and a sister- Jane Speed. She is survived by a son - Bill of Arlington, daughter - Joanne Allen and her husband Gerald of Overbrook, KS, daughter-in-law- Marceline of Stafford. Ten grandchildren. 27 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be sent to the Leisure Homestead of Stafford or Stafford County Hospital both in care of the chapel.
