STAFFORD - Joseph "Leo" Fox was born January 10, 1937 to Earl and Mabel "Marie" Cooper Fox at the family home in Ohio Township, Stafford County, Kansas. He died May 26, 2009 at the Stafford County Hospital, Stafford.
Leo attended the Sunshine School District #71 and Leesburg School District #4. He graduated from St. John High School in 1955. He was the owner of the 19th Hole restaurant and had been a salesman of John Deere tractors. He served as a SFC for seven years in the Kansas National Guard.
On August 6, 1955 he married Rose Marie Fuqua at the St. John Christian Church. Leo and Marie have two children, Douglass Warren and Julie Marie.
On May 1, 1987 he married Marilyn "Jo" Eklund Sell in Elk City, OK.
He is survived by his wife Jo of Stafford. Son: Doug and his wife Evette of Walker, LA. Daughter: Julie Good of Tyler TX. Stepson: Mike Sell of Stafford. Stepdaughter: Julie Dechant and her husband George of Stafford. Granddaughters: Amanda and Michelle Good, Gabriella and Victoria Fox, Nicole and Natausha Dechant. Grandsons: Matthew Good, Lucas and Ethan Dechant. Two great grandchildren. Brothers: Wayne Fox of Stafford and John Fox and his wife Sharon of Wichita. Sister: Doris Anderson of Stafford. Sister-in-laws: Aiko Fox of St. John and Alice Fox of Gt. Bend. Many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Visitation will be Friday 1-7 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Memorials may be sent to the Wounded Veteran's Fund in care of the chapel.
