Joe Togersen

STAFFORD - Rex L. "Joe" Togersen, 61, died December 11, 2011 at Stafford. He was born March 6, 1950 at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA, the son of Raymond L. and Kathryn E. Crowl Togersen. He grew up in Louisiana and has lived in Kansas since 1972. He served in the US Army from 1969-1972. He served during the VietNam war while being stationed in Korea near the DMZ, and was a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #254 of St. John, York Rite bodies of Gt. Bend, OES of Larned, life member of VFW Post 1235 of Stafford and life member of the NRA. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. On July 19, 1975 he married Linda "Lin" Wimmer at Holyrood. She survives. Also surviving are children - Joseph R. Togersen and his wife Tammy of Lorraine and Cherlyn J. Coyle and husband Chris of Ford. Mother - Kathryn Togersen Bossier City, La. Brother - Lynn Togersen and wife Melissa of Bossier City, La. Four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call 1-7 p.m. Tuesday at Minnis Chapel. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Kansas Masonic Cancer Foundation, Stafford United Methodist Church or Stafford V.F.W. all in care of the chapel.
