Everett Dykes

GT. BEND - Everett W. Dykes, 87 died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Marnatha Village, Springfield, MO. Born November 10, 1922 in Stafford Co., Kansas he was the son of George L. and Bertha Wilson Dykes. He started and was the first principal for Gt. Bend Christian School and was a principal at various Kansas public schools including Gt. Bend. He had also been an Assembly of God pastor in Beloit, Oberlin and McCracken. He was an avid gardener and had received numerous ribbons from area fairs. On June 5, 1943 he married Margaret Branscom at St. John. She survives. Other survivors include: SON - Ron Dykes and wife Bettie of Greenfield, MO. DAUGHTERS - Nancy Ropp and husband Dan, Diana Horton and husband Ed, Debbie Smith and husband Tom, all of Springfield, MO. Eight grandchildren. Ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son - Randy, two grandchildren, a brother and four sisters. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church, Gt. Bend with Dwight Dozier presiding. Burial will be 4:30 p.m., Saturday at Stafford Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Bend Assembly of God Church.
