STAFFORD - Carroll Leonard Fiscus, 74, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at his home in Stafford. Born December 10, 1933 at Wichita he was the son of Oakie and Lila Houser Upton. He had been a Stafford resident since 1957 and was associated with Stafford Lumber Co. as the owner/co-owner for 50 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Navy. He was a member of the Stafford Christian Church, past member of the Optimist Club, Lions Club all of Stafford, past board member of the Stafford County Country Club, life member of the American Legion and VFW, had volunteered for several committees at Stafford Schools, was a Little League baseball umpire and was the Public Address announcer for many years at Trojan football and basketball games. On November 17, 1955 he married Rosemary Thornton at Ft. Smith, Ark. She died November 22, 2002. He is survived by:
SON: Leonard Fiscus and his wife Lori of Stafford.
DAUGHTER: Cheri Simpson and her husband Steve of Sublette.
He was preceded in death by daughter: Cathy Fiscus
Grandchildren: Christy Miller and husband Trent of Eudora. Jennifer Ronsse and husband Jason of Manhattan. Jeremiah Fiscus of Natchitoches, Louisiana. Thomas White of Manhattan. Joshua Fiscus of Hays. Jessica Fiscus of Lawrence.
Great Grandchildren: Hayden and Lindsey Miller of Eudora.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2008 at the Stafford Christian Church with Rev. Rhonda Glenn presiding. Burial will be at the Stafford Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 1-8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel, Stafford. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be sent to the South Wind Hospice in care of the chapel.
