About Us
Built in 1886, the lower level of this grand old building would be one of just a few buildings to survive the early fires that plagued downtown Stafford and its settlers. In 1905, the second story was added giving the building it's Main Street look that it has today. In 1935 the funeral chapel was completed on the west side of the building and was one of the first funeral chapels to be built in the area.
The funeral home entrance is located on the north side of the building and faces Stafford Street. The Main Street entrance is the old furniture store portion of the building and is the home of S.E.E.D. Charter School, which is an Entrepreneur Program, developed by the Stafford School District.
Today, Minnis Chapel is a part of the Minnis Group, Inc. Jay M. Minnis, President, graduated from Ft. Hays State University in 1986 with a Bachelors of Arts degree, and the Kansas City Kansas School of Mortuary Science in 1987. He and his wife Adrienne have been Stafford residents since 1988 and have two children.
